Just Because

Mobility … on a square bike

Since moving to Brisbane, I’ve discovered mobility over longer distances to be an issue, especially given the cost of parking, public transport and the humidity here. My solution has been to abandon my car and upgrade from my push bike to a scooter.

Not the safest but I’ve blessed the choice many times since on days when the sun was shining and parking any other vehicle would have been impossible. I’ve noticed more people riding this year and more women too of my age and younger.

So my interest in two-wheeled transport is always present. I had in mind initially to purchase an electric push bike, shifted to a an electric scooter for slightly more power and ended with a 2-stroke 50cc scooter to get me up the steep climbs on campus and elsewhere. Not a monster and definitely the right height for a vertically challenged individual.

Still, I hope someone comes up with an affordable and reasonably sized electric scooter soon. Spotted this one from BOXX, different but one wonders about the aerodynamics and whether it’ll hold its own on the streets with the monster cars and trucks of Australia.
